The Assistant Stage Manager (ASM) is the right and left hand man of the Stage Manager (SM). The ASM has particular duties within the production but on the whole assists the SM and Director and ensures that the show opens on time and has a smooth run.
Lighting Operator Outline
The Lighting Operator is responsible for the smooth running of the Lighting part of the show. Everything lighting orientated (with the exception perhaps of the design) falls under this portfolio.
Front of House/ Usher Outline
Working on Front of House (FOH) requires the person to deal with the immediate public who come to attend a performance in a theatre. FOH co-ordinates all Front of House matters while the performers are panicking backstage!
Sound Operator Outline
The Sound Operator is responsible for the smooth running of the audio part of the show.
Stage Management Outline
The Stage Manager (hereafter SM) is the ‘boss’ of the show once it is up and running. Only the Director and the Production Manager may override the SM in extreme show circumstances. The SM ensures the smooth running of ALL aspects of the Production, from the first read through of the script with the cast to the final performance and post-production tasks.
