City of Cape Town Audition Finals FAQ
1. I auditioned solo, can I now audition with a
band?
Answer: Unfortunately, no - the act that we auditioned is the act
that we put through
2. I auditioned acapella or with a backing track, can I
now bring an accompanist?
Answer: Yes, as long as they understand that THEY are not
auditioning and will not be part of your act going forward. Also you
cannot include anybody who has auditioned for us and received a
NO.
3. Can I use a backing track?
Answer: Yes, just please make sure it is a normal CD and NOT an
mp3. Make sure the CD isn't scratched or damaged, and make sure it is
CLEARLY labelled with your name, and the track number.
4. How long can my performance be?
Answer: We are aiming for 5 minutes per artist, however the
principle is ONE piece per act. So if you are singing one song, it
should be between 3 and 4 minutes. If you are performing one dance
piece, it should be MAXIMUM 6 minutes. Please understand we have 237
acts auditioning this weekend and we need to give everyone an equal
shot!
5. What sound equipment will be available on the day?
Answer: There will be a full band set up available as well as
qualified Sound technicians who will assist you on the day. All you
need to bring is your instruments and any other specialised sound
equipment you need. A full technical rider will be sent to you.
6. Will I get feedback after I perform?
Answer: Judges will not give feedback on the day, but you will be
contacted by Wednesday 12 May with the outcome of your audition
7. How many acts will get through the final round of auditions?

judging for a certain number of artists. Anyone who achieves a standard
of 75% will be given an opportunity to perform beyond the
auditions.
8. If I get through the final round of auditions what happens then?
Answer: Those who are successful will all be given at least one
opportunity to perform; these performances will be paid for”
